WXII 12 News spoke with residents of the Shannon Park neighborhood where 3 U.S. Marshals officers and one Charlotte Mecklenburg Police officer were shot and killed in a shootout on the 5000 block of Galway Drive.

The centerpiece of most meals here is a large-format cut like a 24-ounce bone-in ribeye, a tomahawk pork chop, or a rack of lamb, some of which have been dry-aged for 30 to 60 days and all of which will hit the wood-burning grill.

It's like an oatmeal cream pie or a stuffed oatmeal sandwich cookie and it's kind of a molasses oatmeal cookie filled with a cream cheese vanilla bean frosting and I think it's good." The best time to visit this Taiwanese porridge specialist is during lunch. Choose a trio of savory side dishes from the buffet of options to pair with the simple yam rice porridge. The funky anchovies with peanuts and the twice-cooked pork are always great options. The signature dish at Sáu Can Tho is baked catfish (ca dut lo hau giang). The fish’s prized crispy skin, charred in some spots and golden throughout, gives way to moist and tender flesh imbued with honey and turmeric.
All drinks are made with crushed ice and honey boba, and priced under $4. And sure, House of Ho is pure reality TV schlock, not prestige television. The interpersonal drama is played up for the camera, the lavish spending on private jet flights and designer garments and Italian supercars feels especially cringeworthy at a time when millions of Americans are struggling to make ends meet. Be prepared to roll your eyes frequently at the crying and fighting and the bourgeois posturing. Located in the arts district of Downtown LA, Soho Warehouse began as an industrial building and recording studio. This location is the only one in LA that houses a roof-top swimming pool. Other amenities include a sitting room for connecting and working, the Mandolin Taverna restaurant and bar, and drawing room for events and workshops. The artsy environment and curated space allows for people to admire views and work with inspiration.
The phrase "power lunch" can bring to mind a vision of stuffy and dated interiors, but I loved the leather turquoise chairs and black-and-white striped floor in Cecconi's dining room. They added a chic touch alongside the old-school chandeliers and dark wood paneling. Bopomofo Cafe serves up Instagram-ready milk teas, along with Taiwanese-American comfort fare in San Gabriel.
I had heard there was a secret Cecconi's burger, but our waiter revealed it only makes special appearances (usually during happy hour). I also inquired about the $26 "Piatto Unico" on the menu, which we learned is a lunchtime special that changes weekly and always features a protein, side, and salad. While it might have been power lunch hour, few people were in suits or business casual.
Served on the side are herbs and lettuce, pickled carrots and daikon, cucumber spears, vermicelli rice noodles, rice papers, and best of all, a tangy-sweet tamarind dipping sauce. Banh Xeo Quan, also known as Mr. Rice, specializes in Vietnamese crepes. Owner Phi Tran opened the restaurant to bring this southern Vietnamese specialty to the San Gabriel Valley.
Norwegian also offers a less expensive plan that doesn't allow video streaming for $29.99 per person per day if purchased in advance. The top decks of a few Norwegian ships — mostly the bigger ones — also have a ropes course, a climbing wall or both. The weather in the Eastern Caribbean Islands are usually around the mid 70 F to high 90 F throughout the year. Put it all together, and you have vessels with a very lively atmosphere — particularly at night. If you had to compare Norwegian ships to something on land, you'd probably say they were like floating versions of the casino resorts you find in Las Vegas. When comparing NCL versus Royal Caribbean, you’ll want to also think about room types. Aboard Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas, for example, you can expect to find varying levels of accommodations, including suites, balcony rooms, virtual balcony rooms, ocean view rooms and interior rooms. You can go cave tubing in the caves of Belize City in the Western Caribbean. Or, you can immerse yourself in the exotic luxury that is the Southern Caribbean, kicking back and relaxing in St. Lucia, Barbados, or Dominica.
There are also options for specialty restaurants aboard these ships, though these come with an additional fee. Royal Caribbean allows guests to either choose an assigned dining time or to eat whenever they like — you’ll make your selection during the booking process. Whether it’s your first time cruising or you’re a veteran at this type of travel, it can be difficult to decide which cruise line is the best fit for you.
